The Consultation Process

The highest level of care - before, during and after treatment

Before, during and after your treatment, we’ll explain everything you need to know with respect to your care. If you have any questions at all, you just need to give us a call. Typically, the process flows this way.

Referral

Your GP will refer you to one of our specialists.

Appointment Scheduled

Our team will then contact you to make an appointment at a date and time that suits you.

Consultation

You’ll attend a consultation with your specialist. At this consultation, your doctor will discuss your symptoms and medical history with you.

They’ll explain what further diagnostics are required, if any.  Then, once they have all the information they need, they’ll devise a treatment plan for you. 

Your treatment plan will be carefully explained to you, so you know exactly what to expect.

Procedure Scheduled

You’ll attend a consultation with your specialist. At this consultation, your doctor will discuss your symptoms and medical history with you.

They’ll explain what further diagnostics are required, if any.  Then, once they have all the information they need, they’ll devise a treatment plan for you. 

Your treatment plan will be carefully explained to you, so you know exactly what to expect.

Prior Approval Process & Costs Explained

You will receive an estimate of costs for your procedure, so you know exactly what to expect. You’ll be given the information you need to apply for your prior approval. 

If you’re with Southern Cross, we may be able to arrange this on your behalf.

Preparation Explained

Our team will talk you through what preparation is needed for your procedure at the time of consultation, answering any questions.

Procedure Occurs

Your procedure will occur at either:

  • Angelsea Hospital
  • Braemar Hospital or
  • Waikato Hospital

If you are a public health system patient.

Post-Op  Appointment Scheduled

Two weeks after your procedure, you’ll attend a post-op appointment. The outcome of the procedure will be discussed with you. 

Your health will be assessed again, and you’ll either be discharged from the clinic or scheduled for further treatment if required.
